Yes, we offer home based training Monday – Friday during regular business hours.

Training sessions can be held either in your home, at one of our designated training locations or another location of your choice around the Gold Coast.

Our pricing starts from $250 for an initial consultation. Our pricing varies depending on the program prescribed to your dog. Our prices are not the lowest and we are not the cheapest company to go with, but we are the company that will get you the results you want. Afterpay and PayPal Pay in 4 is available.

We are located on the Gold Coast, QLD. We service the Gold Coast, Tweed Heads and Logan/Beenleigh areas for private and group training. We service Australia wide and internationally with our online programs and virtual training options.

As long as your dog is over 8 weeks of age, they’re ready to start training. The old saying ‘old dogs can’t learn new tricks’ also doesn’t apply, it’s NEVER too late to teach or unteach your dog a few habits. We do ask that if your dog is in their final months that you do just let them rest, however.

This depends on the issue you’re facing and the program prescribed to you. All dogs coming to us for an obedience or behavioural transformation are place into an appropriate program to get you this result. We don’t believe in simply booking a single session here and there. With no structure, accountability or programming simply don’t work. We also don’t believe in 3 session or 5 session packages. That could be too much or too little. We aren’t constrained to one particular style of training. We are balanced in our approach and draw on our experience from our NePoPo Gold & Silver Qualifications, our time with Guide Dogs QLD & Guide Dogs UK, our NDFT Certification and our time learning from some of the best in the world through our regular attendance at seminars.

Yes. We ensure your dog is motivated, fulfilled, and marker trained before the first session, so we can hit the ground running. Your pre-training homework will cover this in depth. We’ll also ensure you’re using the appropriate equipment for your dogs size, experience, and issue, as well as factoring in your own capabilities.

Yes. We’ve worked with 98% of breeds (the only ones missing are the extinct or ultra rare breeds, or breeds banned in Australia). But we can guarantee we’ve worked with your breed. We have extensive experience with 98% of breeds (we’ve event trained Dingoes) and across our staff roster we own or have owned: Rottweilers, Weimaraner’s, Labradors, Golden Retrievers, Dachshunds, Newfoundlands, Foxy Terriers, Brittany Spaniels, Great Danes, Grey Hounds, GSD’s, Kelpie’s, Border Collies & more.

YES! Reactivity is what we specialise in. We actually have an entire program dedicated to it, of which you can learn more about HERE.

Both. Obedience is best taught in a group (to teach the dogs to work around distractions) and behaviour is best taught in a private setting (for an individualised approach). If you’re needing standard obedience training or puppy school, you’ll do one of our group programs. If you have behaviour problems that need resolving or reactivity, you’ll do a mixture of private and group training.

In Australia, our owner and head trainer, Max, is qualified through the National Dog Trainers Federation (NDTF). In addition he holds his NePoPo Silver & Gold Certification. Max is also currently working in completing his qualification with the International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP) as well as studying canine behaviour with the University of Edinburgh.

In addition, Max has completed a Bachelors Degree in Business and reinvests thousands of dollars every year into up skilling and further training/education to ensure that our organisation is up to date with the latest research, training standards and legal parameters.

Our head trainer, Max, has been training dogs for close to 10 years now, and started Down Under Dog Trainer 7 years ago. During that time, we’ve trained over 1000 dogs of all breeds, ages and temperaments. We’ve trained pet dogs, assistance dogs, therapy dogs as well as participated in the training of dogs for scent trailing and detection. In addition, Max has been involved with Guide Dogs UK and Guide Dogs QLD in a voluntary capacity. Currently, Max is working with protection dogs and raising his own Protection Rottweiler, Nelson.

We train with our DUDT system. Our training philosophy, methodology and overall balanced approach draws inspiration and influence from training systems around the world. Doing this means we don’t apply a ‘one size fits all’ training program to every dog that trains with us. We stick to our systems and find the best possible training method for your dog to ensure the best possible result.
